FAA Single Pilot Operation Authorizations for certain aircraft that are Type Certificated for 2-crew such as Cessna C500, C550, C552, C560 and S550 may only be valid for domestic operations and not for international flights. Pilots holding a Single Pilot Waiver from the FAA may want to check twice if the waiver:

1) Does include a clause stating that it is only for domestic operations and
2) Make sure the country they are flying to will accept a Single Pilot Waiver from the FAA.

It is common in most countries to require 2 crew for the operation of all aircraft that are Type Certificated for 2-crew and they will not accept the FAA Single Pilot Waiver. In addition, BOTH crewmembers of an aircraft that is Type Certificated for 2-crew and being flown internationally need to have the appropriate Type Rating for the aircraft being flown. (Refer to FAR 61.55 (a)(3).

For any operations outside of the U.S., in aircraft requiring 2 crew, we recommend that you fly with 2 crewmembers and make sure the SIC holds the appropriate type rating for the aircraft to avoid delays, large fines or worse.
