One of the most common questions that we receive is regarding the need to have a Radio Operator permit or Radio Station License.

The FCC of the United States requires that any US registered aircraft traveling outisde of the United States have a valid Radio Statio License for the aircraft and that at least one person with acceess to the radios have a minimum of a Restricted Radio Operator permit.

Most countries outside of the United States also have a similar requirement for aircraft operating inside their airspace with communications radios.

Although it is an extremely rare occurrence for an inspector to request this information, they would be within their legal right to do so.
