A question we are often asked is whether pilots can fly to foreign countries if their aircraft is equipped with 978 UAT equipped ADS-B transmitters. The short answer is, NO.

The 978 UAT is a technology unique to the USA and while it brings a lot of benefits, it has not been adopted nor implemented by foreign countries. The only country where it might be possible is The Bahamas but they have yet to clarify their requirements, primarily because they have yet to install ADS-B receivers. However, that is in the process of changing. As the requirements become clearer, we will advise.
