As of today, September 1st, 2020, Costa Rica airports are allowing incoming visitors from the following US states: New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

The new procedures in place are as follows:

1. Five days prior to your planned arrival date an approval must be obtained from the Civil Aviation Authorities and the Health Ministry. (CST Flight Services can assist you in requesting this authorization when using our Ground Handling Services)

2. All visitors must comply with the Health Pass Form found here: https://salud.go.cr/step0. Requirements to apply to this Health Pass are:

-Have tested negative in a COVID-19 PCR test up to 72 hours maximum prior to your arrival.
-Have travel insurance that covers accommodation and expenses generated by the COVID-19 disease, offered by one of the authorized insurers in Costa Rica or another international provider. Authorized insurance providers can be found here.
-Have remained for at least 14 days in one of the states listed above.
-Do not show or experience symptoms associated with COVID-19.

If you are coming from any other state within the US, the Authorities could approve the arrival if a special authorization is requested. However, the incoming visitors will be required to quarantine for 14 days at a hotel or private residence.?

In addition, Costa Rica has also opened its borders to visitors arriving from: Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Vatican City, Luxemburg, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Belgium, Denmark, Sapain, Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Austria, Bulgaria, South Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary , Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Uruguay, China, Portugal and Romania.

As of September 15, 2020, the following US states have been added to the "approved list":
Pensilvania, Massachusetts, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Michigan and Rhode Island.
