I flew into Marsh Harbour last week and tied down at Cherokee Aviation. Upon departure, I was surprised to have been charged $10 / night for the tie down. I was under the impression that tie downs at public airports in the Bahamas was at no charge.

Is there another area at the Marsh Harbour airport where I can tie down at no charge? Are there permanent tie down anchors, or do I have to bring my own tie down anchors?
Hello Mike,

While Marsh Harbour (MYAM) is indeed a public airport, the Cherokee ramp is private property. The fee you paid sounds typical for a small General Aviation aircraft.

For free parking, you will need to go to the east side of the airport where the public General Aviation ramp is located. When using this ramp you will need to clear Immigration and Customs at the main commercial terminal. The officials at Cherokee are exclusively for their customers.

What kind of parking is there at the east end? Are there tie down anchors installed that one can use?

What are the options for fuel if you park at the east end?
The public parking is located adjacent to the old terminal building. If you park on that ramp you can purchase fuel from Zig Zag Aviation. Their telephone number is +1 242 367 2889
We don't believe that there are chocks or tie downs on that ramp. You will need to bring your own chocks.
