The Mendoza International Airport in Argentina (SAME) will close on September 07, 2016 for major improvements to the runway and taxiways. It is planned to remain closed until December 07, 2016.

During this time, the San Juan/Domingo Faustino Sarmiento airport (SANU) will be made international and will receive flights that would normally go to SAME.

Pilots planning trips to SAME after September, 2016 should monitor this situation closely as it is very possible that the opening of SAME may be delayed beyond the planned date.
Plans are set for the closure of SAME. Dates are now September 07, 2016 to December 07, 2016. Operators should not make plans to arrive immediately after December 07 until they have received guaranteed assurance from local authorities that the airport will reopen on schedule.
Just a reminder that SAME will be closing from September 07, 2016 to December 07, 2016. No measures for partial operations have been made, the airport will be completely closed, so plan accordingly.
The runway at the Mendoza International Airport (SAME) has been torn up so there is no way any fixed wing aircraft can use the airport until the runway has been rebuilt. Be sure to plan accordingly.
The Mendoza, Argentina Airport (SAME) is scheduled to reopen this coming Wednesday, December 07, 2016. The airport boasts a new runway, more parking space and an enlarged terminal building. This will be a huge relief for aircraft entering Argentina that have been using some of the other airports in the country while SAME has undergone its reconstruction.
