All pilots who plan to fly under the new BasicMed regulations should be aware that at this time it is NOT a valid document for international flights. While BasicMed may replace the 3'rd Class Medical Certificate for flights within the USA, the Civil Aviation Departments of foreign countries will still require a 3'rd Class Medical Certificate. Pilots should be aware that the use of BasicMed for foreign flights is not allowed.
We would like to recognize and thank the government of The Bahamas for recognizing the FAA's Basicmed as a valid Medical Certificate for private flights to The Bahamas. By recognizing this document, The Bahamas facilitates the arrival of private pilots wishing to vacation in the country and bring their tourism dollars with them. The Bahamas is a country of approximately 700 islands and small General Aviation aircraft are an excellent and convenient mode of travel that allows pilots to visit a greater number of destinations than they would be able to if they could only use Commercial Aviation.

Separately, we want to remind pilots that other countries DO NOT recognize Basicmed and under no circumstances should pilots attempt to use Basicmed as a Medical Certificate for international flight to any country other than The Bahamas
